Before we started Macbeth, I knew nearly nothing about ambition. I wasn't even completely sure exactly what ambition was. However, I did plenty of research to find out a lot about the topic and it's affects before even attempting to start my piece. To produce this piece, I went through a process of doing research, then brainstorming, and then finally writing and revising. I think this experience of writing and presenting a speech has definitely given me an understanding of some strategies I can use for next time. Though I think my verbal speech was good, there is always room for improvements. I think I could improve by working on making better eye contact with the audience and make my hand gestures and movements look less forced.
I feel confident about this piece of work I have produced, both my verbal and physical composition. It was especially satisfying to get it finished and over with, for I don't care too much for public speaking. Something I learned about myself over the course of getting ready to present is that I do not have a very good memory. I was having a difficult time memorizing the speech to present in front of the class. It took a bit longer than I had anticipated to fully commit my speech to memory. Nevertheless, I worked hard on reading the speech over and over again for about a week straight and ended up getting up in front of the class and making nearly no mistakes. Overall, I am proud of this speech because it shows my personal views on ambition in a formal way. One goal I would like to set for myself for next time is making it a bit longer when read aloud. I feel like I could have emphasized a few points more to make it a few seconds longer. |
