To be honest, when I first received the assignment of creating a podcast, I was not too thrilled. Podcasts had always seemed boring and awkward to me, but doing this assignment has taught me so much. First and foremost, it taught me to have patience. The difficult part for me was not writing the script or coming up with what to say. I had trouble working with technology to film the podcast. I tried many different mediums to film the podcast on and all of them seemed to have major or minor issues. There were voice recorders that had no ability to edit or add music, which was an issue for this particular assignment for displaying the work of a singer, and some just wouldn't save the final product or had bad sound quality. After finding the perfect medium to use, reading a script with no mistakes and having the pacing perfect was also a challenge. But after experimenting quite a bit with trial and error, I was able to get my recording to my liking.
All the standards that I had set for myself for this piece were met, and for that I am very proud. My standards mostly came from the final rubric from the teacher, but in addition, I also wanted to do work that I was really proud of and really showcase what an amazing human Aretha Franklin was and what impact she had for society in the late 1960s. I did lots of research and learned so many things about her that I otherwise would have never known. |
