For my piece of writing, I decided to make my focus on the character Philip Lombard. I really enjoyed looking more into his character because he was so mysterious and charming. To produce this essay, I began with a brainstorm of what I wanted my essay to look like and how I wanted it organized. I decided to write an introduction, conclusion, and two body paragraphs.
For me, personally, I was proud of the way that I integrated the quotes in this essay. Before my ninth grade year, I was never really taught how to correctly integrate or cite quotes correctly in an essay. It was one of the main requirements to have three quotes in your essay to use as evidence and to integrate them in a way that makes the writing flow. I integrated my quotes the best that I could and explained what each quote was helping to support. Because of this, it definitely shows my style of writing. I have a candid and straightforward style in nearly all of my works and it is always important to me to use evidence to support my claim. Without evidence, I feel like you are just giving an opinion and in now way showing how it could be true. Reflecting on this paper, I would have definitely made it longer than four paragraphs. Though I am proud of my work, I feel I could have gone into more detail about the topic. My writing was a bit short and I could have explained more about how Philip Lombard contributed to the theme. I also could have written a better hook in the first sentence of my essay. Although I tried my best to write a hook, I feel like it could have been a bit more interesting and made the audience want to read on. |
